MY decemberFEST

well, i planned to do all my updated posts that should have been posted days or should i say months before. but then, sad to say, i really did not succeed in executing my plan. but then, i believe it's not that late so i'll try to cope up with my supposedly done postings but i'll do it briefly and concise.

moving on, december is always my most awaited month aside from june (which happens to be my birth month) because of the different atmosphere that the Christmas celebration brought and the upcoming entry of a new year plus the sometimes cool temperature that we experience considering the fact that we are used to hot and not-so-hot temperatures. well, speaking of december, i really don't have a plan except the fact that we will celebrate Christmas yet many activities aside from the Christmas celebration itself pushed through. so here is a glimpse of my december:

December 3
Farah's 18th Birthday Celebration at Tabaco City. i was one of the few bucssp-social work students who attended her birthday. nakakahiya kasi, personal niya pang ini-abot ang invitation so despite my colds and sinat, i pushed through in attending her celebration. besides, after her shift in bu tabaco social work, this is the only time that we will see her again. moreover, since she also gained friends in TC (tabaco campus), she also invited them. however, it's so weird that when we arrived, they all... poof! - decided to go home even though they really have no plans of going home yet. tsktsk. moving on, the celebration was okay and we stay in tabaco over night.

December 6
Presentation of Proposed Activities of HWA to the Social Work Faculty. my activity was moved and will be fused with other activities to create the 32nd Social Work Days with me as one of the activity chairs.

December 10
Second Human Welfare Advocates General Assembly. we presented the accomplishments and the proposed activities for the 2nd Semester of the organization before its members for their perusal.
Doming's Birthday. who's doming? he is a AB Political Science student who was never my classmate. i mean, he was the classmate of my friends from the other block in one class and since he is the friend of my friends, friends na kami. parang ganun yun. that's why even we're not that close, i still attended his birthday celebration at his house.
First Flag Retreat in my College Life. our organization is the host of the flag retreat this week and since, i am one of the officers plus one of the college student council officers plus nagtatambay lang, i attended the first flag retreat that i actually attended in my college life. i even asked my classmates to join.
Boys Night-Out. i really felt heavy these days. maybe because of disappointment over my friend's unenthusiastic response over our planned Christmas get together and celebration that's why i joined mj in his/her (he's actually a lesbian) request for a night out.

December 15
2 hour special Swimming Class. since we did not meet last time, our professor called for a special class. we actually had our practical exams and gladly i passed with flying fishes. haha. joking aside, i passed the practical exam though i was expecting that i would fail. thank God!

December 16
Christmas Outreach 2010 at Barangay Burgos in Daraga. Barangay Burgos is actually a rural barangay in Daraga with agriculture and pamaypay making as its primary source of income (based on my observations). the class spend some time with the day care children of burgos acting like santa claus. facilitating games, giving foods, gift giving and picture taking are among the activities we did to share the spirit of Christmas and bring the university closer to the community. Moreover, aside from the burgos outreach, i also took part in the outreach of the first year block a in Mabini with Senior Citizens as their beneficiaries as my hwa assignment with melvin. i realized that dealing with lolos and lolas was never really that hard as what i imagined at first. actually, when i see lolos and lolas , there is a strange feeling of 'awa' that struck me out of nowhere. that's why seeing them smile and laughed really touched my heart and made me feel that 'HEY THIS IS CHRISTMAS!' ps. i actually participated in the parlor games especially in the one with the talong. :P
ps. first time kong kumain ng DINUGUAN at hindi pa masarap. tsktsk

December 17
MnT Christmas Celebration and Get Together. After the disappointment, the get together still pushed through. we spend the night swimming and telling stories, sharing laughters and non-sense with sense talks at Manhattan Resort in Sto. Domingo, Albay. It was also my first time in Sto. Domingo. sadly, we didn't have the opportunity to roam around sto. domingo. however, we went to Sto. Domingo Church. their plaza and municipal building is quite spanish looking as if they were preserved since the spanish years just like in Guinobatan.
LAST DAY OF CLASSES FOR 2010!

December 18
Aside from the fact that this is the day when i left Legazpi City to spend the Christmas break in Naga, this is the 2010 Kantang Jovenes: A Christmas Caroling Contest day wherein the City Youth Officials 2010 sponsored the activity. actually, i only helped during the pre-contest preparations such as drafting the contest's mechanics and guidelines, preparing the registration forms and the contest 'logo'. I was able to attend the contest eventhough i arrived in Naga at around 5 pm and that's my additional help: presence.

December 22
Biglaang Food and Ukay-ukay Trip with Jo and Bstfrnd. it was really biglaan. bstfrnd just pm me jo sent me a message in fb inviting me to join them eat. i was really tamad that time at ako na ang tamad. i made them wait for 42 minutes because of the distance of del rosario to centro. haha. well, i enjoyed the food trip. it was nice seeing jo after 7 months and rica again after 10 months. nakakamiss din! thanks jo and bstfrnd! and thanks jo again for the food. :D

December 23
Biglaang Bisita ni Teacher Jaki and Kevin. Teacher Jaki and Kevin are part of my elementary buddies and we live in one subdivision. they decided to pay a surprise visit because it was years when we last saw each other. probably, four or five years. since, teacher jaki is here, we planned to have a mini-jamming/reunion by asking our former classmates and teachers john and zach to join. December 27 was the date of the mini-jamming/reunion.

December 24
CHRISTMAS EVE. We attended the Christmas Mass as a family and ate Noche Buena when the midnight struck.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

December 25
Polangui. We went to Polangui and visited our relatives on the mother side.

December 27
Kathy's Birthday
NCSHS Alumni Homecoming. Hindi sana ako mag-attend but because of some underlying factors and people, i decided to attend. I actually stayed for just about an hour since i also have another event to attend to. nonetheless, i still enjoy! seeing my former classmates and friends after some time feels good. i saw mara after (1 year and 2 months), angela (after 7 months), red, jomari, mikee, darren (after 9 days), alfred, jo, claudz, alekks, tin-tin, france, johannes, nikki, kathy, yayen, kitz, iris, dada, erron (namiss ko to!), and so on and so forth.
MdeP Mini-Jamming/Reunion. Bar hopping at magsaysay. we started at Bob Marlin, Mico/Nico (i don't really know) Arch - the one with the ship like facade but no vacant seats, Clubm8 but was closed until midnight, and finally teen-teen's. It was an all-expenses paid by teachers john, zach and jaki. thank you teacher. i had fun remembering those MdeP days.

December 28 - 29
Sipocot. Had time with my relative on the father side, played with my 1-7 years old cousins that's why i realized that nakakamiss din pala ang maging 3-5 years old na bata, missed the opportunity to join mama in her field to Caima (a rural barangay in Sipocot with 45 minutes - 1 hour ride from centrosipocot and 2 hours walk). bottomline, ENJOY!

December 30
Biglaang Bonding with Alekks. postponed na bonding namin nila alekks, trixia, rica and rufo pero natuloy kami ni alekks. CRITICS for a DAY. Double Down sa KFC na nagtataka pa rin ako kung bakit hindi up and down. RPG Metanoia, the first Philippine full length 3D movie na hindi napanood namin ng hindi 3D (sayang!)

December 31
NEW YEAR'S EVE! Attended the New Year Mass, nagpaputok ng lucis at kumain ng cake for media noche.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

reunion part I

it was such a surprise seeing and talking to one of my childhood friends and teacher after such a long time of just a mere his and hellos. kevin and teacher jaki went to our house today and we have a good time of story telling. teacher jaki, our elementary adviser and teacher, told us her hong kong stories plus her travels to israel and thailand and she actually discouraged us from working abroad. well, the time did not suffice our story telling sessions so we actually decided to have a night-out of december 27. that's the part II. :D

btw, i think i will not be attending the 2010 homecoming of NCSHS alumni which also falls on the 27th because of some personal reasons such as my belief that it is too early for me to attend the homecoming since it was just only two years from the date of our graduation if i am right. haha. :p

10.12.10

movies

this december, aside from having our weekly swimming lessons every friday from 9am - 11am which i think was the major cause of my continuous blackening, we also have a couple of movie viewing and analysis related to our course, world literature. well, it was just Helen of Troy - for the epic Iliad and First Knight - for the Le Morte d'Arthur. not so new but then i was really satisfied and interested upon seeing the two movies which i think justified my interest in history or history-like stories (i don't know what to call them). bottomline, i like the two stories. good thing, we viewed it because i really don't have the patience to read books or novels. another thing, the audio visual center of bucal is quite cool. as if we are on a movie house. haha. wala lang share ko lang. :D

NAGA-gayon lalo

naga city, under the leadership of mayor john bongat and other city officials, is taking the good road ahead in terms of investments in making naga a more beautiful tourism hub and a city that gives importance to its glorious history as one of the golden seven cities of the sun (a name given by the great writer nick joaquin to the original seven settlements that the spaniards established upon their arrival in the philippines.

what i am referring here are the two plans of the city government to invest in the physical development of naga. maybe some would see it shallow but for me, investing in physical development of naga would help in promoting naga as an investment hub in the southern luzon area. kapag maayos, maganda at malinis, more investors and visitors will like naga. however, physical development should not be the only priority of the city administration (this is another issue)

first is the plan of the city government to revitalize the naga river which is of historical and cultural significance to the city. the salog kan buhay program of the city. the plan to relocate the informal settlers near the river and make walkways and parks along the river and of course, to clean the river and make it cleaner.

second is the plan of the city government to construct the monumento de naga which will become the fuente osmeña circle/el angel column(mexico)/july column(paris)/berlin victory column of naga city. the said monumento will be constructed at the magsaysay-roxas-panganiban-national highway intersection near the immaculate conception church. the said monumento will honor naga city's status as a pilgrimage capital. actually, just like the salog kan buhay project, this project is just on the drawing board. the city government is inviting architecture/engineering students or professionals and even ordinary people with ordinary lives to participate and they will receive a prize in exchange if their design will be chosen.

well, i commend the city government for their wonderful plans but i will commend them more if they will implement their proposed projects and walk their talk. :p

overheard and confirmed

it's been long since I've heard my friends that a new design of the Philippine bills will be released with the mayon volcano and the butanding as one of the latest addition to the bills. at first i was shocked and surprised but i'm excited to see it and used it. i actually searched it on the different news website like abs-cbnnew, gmanews, inquirer and mb and i actually read it and it was confirmed.

now, from what i've heard and read from the news, the new re-designed bills are now on the circulation and some are even criticizing the minor mistakes. nonetheless, i'm excited to have a piece of the new generation philippine bills.

ps. i cannot understand why some people criticizes or questions the president when in fact from what i have learned, the plan of changing the design of our bills was crafted even before pnoy was elected president. i think it was bsp's initiative. that's all. :D

something BU

wednesday is the declared university wash day and a perfect day to roam around BU with friends. well, since i had my digicam with me, i decided to take some shots of some of the places in the university. in this case, we were at the college of arts and letters.

the bucal pyramid

the rear view of the newly constructed facade of bu
(fronting camp general simeon ola)

the bucal building with the pyramid, formally the mp building which
houses the college of arts and letters.

this year's bu christmas tree located infront of the
general administration building or the white building.
simple and not that elegant. last year's christmas tree was better.

that's it. :p

i'm on the process of having a blog make-over. from the url, blog name to the templates and so on and so forth. i need to cope up with bu's iso certification. hm. seriously, i just want to give my blog a new look (may nagbabasa man o wala). sad to say, i'm having a hard time finding a good template that's why i settle first temporarily with this one. however, if i can't find a better template sooner, maybe this template will last until i decided again to change my blog. haha. well, that's all for now.

ps. maybe you can recommend a site where i can get a free blogger template. thank you! :D

singles night-out

last november 26, our barkada group decided to have a night-out celebrating singleness upon the invitation of mae-anne who just came from broke-up with her boyfriend. (their relationship lasted for one year and something months which i can't remember) actually, it just started from a joke but then the joke turned into reality because everybody would want to celebrate the BREAKDAY of mhe and her bf. i was with angelo, melvin, jade who i fondly called agta, margie, of course mae-anne and kuya bjorn who i though had her monthly menstrual during the night.

it was a rainy-not-so-rainy night. our night-out started with us meeting outside the gates of bucssp. after gathering there, we proceeded to kuya's canteen for our dinner but unluckily kuya doesn't have anything to offer to us. we went to jobee albay and we had our dinner there. it was during dinner where we talked and asked ourselves of where are we going. we have chick-in the bar, greenleaf or embarcadero de legazpi as choices or i think it was a lengthy shortlist. bottomline: mhe wants to drink and have fun and celebrate her breakday. we end up at the neighbor of chick-in the bar - silberbucks cafe and there we drink tanduay ice. TI is not a beer, according to its label it is an alcomix with 5% alcohol content and carbonated water. basically, it tastes like spirte or seven-up. you can't literally taste alcohol so the group drank up to five buckets (most of us are first timers). from moment to moment, someone would propose a cheers for mae-anne and for singleness and for the date 26 silently saying happy monthsary. what about 26? it was about a different story related to two persons i/we know very much. i don't want to share what i know here because i don't know if one or some of our professors in the department will have the chance to read this. besides, its not mine to share and at this early, i practice CONFIDENTIALITY - a principle that a social worker should always possess and practice. moving on, so all drink TI. thinking in mind that we are only two boys, i make it sure that i will not be drunk because of the girls. no one will assist and usher the girls on their way home if they will be drunk. obviously, since it is an alcoholic drink some of our companions was struck by alcohol (i and melvin are the only normal people - by normal, i mean not drunk) namely margie, jade, mhe and angelo. margie barfed and messed the place. mhe also barfed after dancing like a rock star with kuya bjorn. angelo felt dizzy. with jade, she started the english speaking zone. it was because of jade that the group was using english in talking. it just started with her 'i want to go to sleep' and pooof - english speaking na ang lahat. actually, i and melvz, the only normal spirits in the group recorded the english conversations secretly so that we can playback them next week and laugh-laugh and laugh.

so since the girls are wasted. we decided to pause for a while near the capitol to bring back their spirits and consciousness. when they redeemed their consciousness, we went to jade's bhouse and sent her off to the terminal going to pilar for she will be going home to masbate. margie slept at mae-anne's bhouse. after mhe and margie went home. i, melvin and angelo, my lakwatchero brothers (brother is not fit to angelo) decided to go to jollibee-albay district to eat and continue our storytelling and just eat and spend the time. it was the second 26 we are together. the first during the parokya ni edgar concert at BU. 26 is very significant and i'm glad i'm part of it.

meetmycollegefriends

this is my mababangis friends.
why mababangis? because of the wildlife. if i can remember it right,
i was the pasimuno of the term mababangis when we went to albay wildlife park.
then, the use of animal petnames such as pagong, tutubi, langgam, butiki atbp
added to the mababangis name. since, mababangis is such a long name,
we are using MnT as alternative.
we are all 2nd year social work majors except
for kuya bjorn who already had her diploma.

my amnesia girl...

ayon sa census, may 11 million tao sa metro manila... kung nasayo na sya, papakawalan mo pa siya?
(i guess that's not the exact line, but that's what i remember. :) )

blah.blah.blah. it was such a long time after i watched a movie in a cinema. we always plan but that plan always remain a plan. this time, we decided to actually watch. we watch my amnesia girl. actually i personally exerted effort just for us to see it because it's very timely (banat times) and i just feel watching it over hp which i am not interested in.

well, i like the movie. inspiring kumbaga. someday, when the right time comes, i would like to do what apollo did just to prove his love for irene. post-it notes, birthdays or something like that. their love story or their closeness especially during their first relationship was very wow. ang sarap talagang mainlove. nakakamiss. lagi ko ngang sinasabi sa mga kaibigan ko na excited na akong mainlove.

ikaw, oo ikaw! alarm clock ka ba? kasi ginising mo ang natutulog kong puso!

17.11.10

it's russ

enjoying is always a choice. well, it's always me choosing happiness in midst of pressure be it academically related, extra-acad or just plain pressure disturbing me and my simple life. well, this post is simply related to my previous blog post where i express my concern about some of my subjects despite my optimism. well, that concerns are now gone with the wind. i'm actually enjoying my second semester and i can say my professors and my subjects ROCKS!

PEswimming. i'm getting darker and darker every week partly because of our pe class from 9 - 11 in the morning every friday and the extreme heat in albay most of the days. well, after all, i think i personally passed my personal test. i wore trunks (i think my first time since elementary days), exposed my baby fats and i guess i'm starting to learn how to swim. YES! sa wakas!

speech&oralcom. i like this subject very much. 3 hours a week of talk talk and talk. sharing your ideas freely and hearing your classmates speak in english like never before. our professor, ms. roda (at night) would always let the class talk about their own opinions.

worldliterature. we're just starting because of the misinformation caused by the registrar, our teacher waiting at MP201 while the class waiting at MP312. luckily, because terelle and i felt that there maybe something room because of several missed meetings, we proceeded to the cal faculty, look at the faculty tracker and found out that our professor is in the other room. we proceeded there and the rest of the class followed afterwards. well, dr. bartolata, the department head of English Department of BUCAL is very soft-spoken, approachable and nice though she's suffering from chronic laryngitis (if i got it right.) our class is one only of the five class she currently handles. pinili daw kasi ang magagaling (joke).

developmentalpsychology&personalgrowthandprocesses. two different major subjects both handled by prof. sales, my favorite teacher. no boring second in every subject and i'm very excited to make the book of myself. designing, editing, making articles and so on from cover to cover by being very me.

rizal'slife&works. i'm a non-rizalist and if i am to choose between rizal and bonifacio, i would choose bonifacio more. but then, what makes this subject unique is because of our professor. she transforms our class to a singing class, singing beatles' songs and she has a very unique way of telling stories to the class that would make the class laugh out loud. madam estor ROCKS!

well, second semester is just starting up. more to come for sure! :D

scuaa 2010

after 9 years, the Bicol State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association is back to the home of champions - Bicol University. the SCUAA is a sporting event with its main aim of promoting regional solidarity through sports wherein SUCs from the region competes for championship. the competing SUCs are Bicol University (BU), Camarines Norte State College (CNSC), Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC), Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), Catanduanes State College (CSC), Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memoral State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT). The five day sporting spectacle opened on November 8, 2010 at BU Sports Complex with Gov. Joey Salceda and Mayor Geraldine Rosal witnessing the opening program. the BU Hataw was part of the hataw wherein i am one of the thousand freshmen and sophomore students dancing at the same time in one tune. it was unique this time for while the students are dancing, two air force helicopter flew above and showered confetti all over the sports complex. The sporting spectacle ended with BU retaining the championship. congrats BU! :)

try ko kaya?

parang gusto kong magpaKALBO. try lang.
pero kung seryoso ako, SEMI-KALBO na lang. haha. :D

tomorrow, i will be going back to legazpi city, south of comfort zone to face the second semester of my academic life. well, just like what i usually say to my friends, i'm pretty optimistic with the second semester except maybe for two subjects, pe4 and speech communication.

pe4 - they call it recreation and youth leadership but pe4 students will actually have their swimming class. swimming? i can't really swim but i am lucky though because i have my height. yeah! advantage in the sense that while my classmates (who are just like me - non-swimmers) will have hard time standing on their feet at the pool, i can still manage to stand. haha. but then the wearing of trunks parts is another thing that makes me nervous. i am a little shy with my baby fats. haha. my classmates would actually see my baby fats. good luck! haha. good thing i browse the photos of mae paner aka juana change. her courage is simply amazing! what i am talking about, see it for yourself.

with the speech communication, actually, i think the only thing that makes me nervous with the course is the university speech choir competition. haha. may God help us!

hmm. but then, though i am not really confident with pe4 and speechcom, that doesn't mean that i will not do something or just let the wind flow. it's a challenge to conquer. soo, let the battle begin! second semester, HERE I COME!

nakakalungkot isipin na masaya sila kahit wala ka. ni parang hindi ka nga nila naaalala. tipong, kung hindi ka magparamdam, walang mangyayari. kung hindi ka magtext, hindi rin sila magtetext. kung hindi ka magdadrama, walang ring mangyayari. well, i don't have anything against them because first and foremost, i myself have my own pagkukulang and maybe because of that, we can call it a tie. haha. well, i just miss them. the old people whom i shared stories and ideas with. the people who were with me for four years (and counting, if i am right). the people who have shared a piece of their lives with me. the people who help me become who am i. well, the people i call friends. the people whose names are rica, alekks, trixia-taba, rufo, erron, alfred, queng, jo, publicfrenemyno1-aila, at iba pa. plus yayen, kitz, katkat, hani, cj, seban, vinz, ate gigi and others.

grabeng drama ano? maybe some of them (if there's any) would laugh if they would read this. sabagay, sabi nga ni angelo (my college friend), "mas sanay kasi ang tao sa lighter side mo, sa pa-joke-joke or kung seryoso, parang hindi seryoso." maybe some of them would see that i am just joking. but i am not. haha. i simply miss my friends and that's it. after all, walang masama kung mamimiss mo ang mga kaibigan mo. hope to see them soon. :D

bad russ

today is the most unique day of my semestral break here in naga. haha. actually, this semestral break is kinda odd because from the start of the break up but not up to this day, i have not went strolling at the malls or even go out of the subdivision except of course, for the polangui-undas trip our family had. hmm. today is unique for finally, i had the chance to go out and see naga city centro and some of it's changes kung meron man kahit sa loob lang ng van. actually, our destination was lcc mall in sabang which is not that near to the centro. so we stayed there for just a little time because my parents bought what they needed. well, nakasali ako. binilihan ako ng bagong shorts so thank you mama and papa. haha.

but then the uniqueness of this day ended up with me saying to myself - bad russ.

first bad russ - i just learned that starting tomorrow, we will start our classes for the second semester especially with our major subjects and since i have decided from the start of the break that i will not likely attend the first day of classes if it will be held prior to november 8, i will miss the first day of my second semester major subjects. nakakalungkot because i would usually love to attend first day of classes. well, there's the second meeting to anticipate for. what's bad with that: skipping or being absent for the first meeting of your second semester class.

second bad russ - i have offended a teacher, worst, my favorite teacher in the department because i have posted her video while giving a sample to us during our final evaluation for the showcase of talents without her approval. i simply hate the feeling of offending others. nonetheless, i have sent my apology letter and explanation through facebook and i'm also planning to apologize personally when we meet next week. i also deleted the video and pictures related to the incident. what's bad with that: everything!

tomorrow, i'm hoping for a shift in the tide. well, i'm just hoping that tomorrow's gonna be a good day.
